Welcome to Year 3!

Mrs Gardner - Class Teacher

Miss Worsley - Class Teaching Assistant

Welcome to Year Three! Welcome back to our class page after the Half Term break. I hope you have had a lovely week and that children are well rested for another busy and exciting half term!

Each year, we teachers start out so hopeful and excited to begin the new journey with your child. We come in with hopes and dreams of what the year will be like - and all of those visions include good things for your child. Whilst we are willing to put in the effort, the hours, the creativity, the enthusiasm - having your support results in your child's overall success!

We will organise our written work into paragraphs around a theme. Linked to our work in History we will look at how authors use characterisation to develop a story. We will also be reading, learning and preparing poems and play scripts and using them to perform, linked to our theme-Egyptians. We will also be comparing and contrasting a traditional tale with an Egyptian tale and will travel back in time and write our very own Egyptian diary entry! Non-fiction—We will be reading reference material to research facts about the Egyptians and will develop our skill of report writing by creating a non-chronological report.

Guided Reading sessions will continue to take place daily. We ask that you continue to encourage your child to read at home and for you to comment in their Reading Record.
