Welcome to Year 3!

Mrs Gardner - Class Teacher

Miss Worsley - Class Teaching Assistant

Welcome to Year Three! Welcome back to our class page after the Half Term break. I hope you have had a lovely week and that children are well rested for another busy and exciting half term!

Each year, we teachers start out so hopeful and excited to begin the new journey with your child. We come in with hopes and dreams of what the year will be like - and all of those visions include good things for your child. Whilst we are willing to put in the effort, the hours, the creativity, the enthusiasm - having your support results in your child's overall success!

In English we will use complex sentences appropriately in our writing and begin to make choices about when to move a subordinate clause to the beginning of a sentence.

We will also use the past perfect tense when appropriate and make choices about the position of a prepositional phrase in a sentence. We will select conjunctions, adverbs and prepositions to show time in writing - to indicate sequences of events or the passing of time.

Guided Reading sessions will continue to take place daily. We ask that you continue to encourage your child to read at home and for you to comment in their Reading Record.

This half term, children will develop their mathematical learning of the following concepts:

- Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 multiplication tables.

- Recognise and use fractions as number: unit fractions and non-unit fractions with small denominators.

 - Recognise and show, using diagrams, equivalent fractions.
