Each year, we teachers start out so hopeful and excited to begin the new journey with your child. We come in with hopes and dreams of what the year will be like - and all of those visions include good things for your child. Whilst we are willing to put in the effort, the hours, the creativity, the enthusiasm - having your support results in your child's overall success and helps them to Reach For The Stars!

Class Blog - Autumn 2

Week 1

Well done to all of those children who made a Lighthouse over the half term break to compliment our English learning this hard term. They look amazing - such creative ideas!

Week 2

Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the Library this week to gather research about our new topic, 'The Changing Role of Women.' An added bonus - most of us were able to use our new library cards to bring home some new books to read for pleasure!

Week 3

Year 6 have worked so hard this week. We really have knuckled down and put 100% effort into our work - well done Year 6!

A big shout out to Isabelle, who won one of the £5 reading vouchers for the most minutes read in our Readathon this week. All children did very well and thoroughly enjoed their reading!

Week 4

Our English learning is based on the text, 'Letters From the Lighthouse' and some children have been really busy making their own lighthouses at home! They are amazing! Take a look below:

Class Blog - Autumn 1

Week 1

What an amazing first few days in Year 6! We have had lots of fun beginning our new topics and have got stuck in to some challenging work!

Tyler says, "I have loved Year 6 so far! I can't wait to learn more."

Bonnie says, "I have enjoyed Year 6 and the tasks that we have done and I can't wait for SATs!"

National Literacy Day

This week, we have made ourselves a bookmark to celebrate National Literacy Day. Have a look at some below:

Week 2

Year 6 have gained an understanding of what it was like for children in WWII this week by taking part in our very own air raid experience! Children were quick to the mark and hid at the sound of a siren!

Week 3

What an amazing week of Artwork this week! We have a class of very talented artists, who have all been looking at using perspective to create realistic interiors!  Take a look at an example piece below:

Week 4

WWII - what an amazing time we are having learning about WWII! Children are enjoying it that much that they are bringin things into school from hoke to share and celebrate! Take a look at some of these below:

Week 5

We had a special visit this week from the Fire Brigade, who came to talk to Year 6 about being safe on the run up to Halloween and Bonfire Night. Mrs Gardner drew the short straw and had to try on a Fire Fighters clothing!

Week 6

This week has been amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed some of our grown-ups spending some time with us in our Topic lesson, in which we produced some amazing, mature work about Concentration Camps during WWII. We also really enjoyed taking part in World Mental Health Day, by wearing Yellow and designing our own Yellow Superheroes. Our week was finished off nicely, with some children winning the chance to share hot chocolate and whipped cream (along with some chocolates from Bonnie) in our reading area. Well done to this weeks reading stars!

Week 7

This week, Year 6 have throroughly enjoyed DT Week! After researching and planning our designs, we took to work in teams, to make our very own WWII Anderson shelters!

We have also celebrated Black History Week and took part in a carousel of activites across KS2.
