Outdoor Vision
Being outdoors has a positive impact on children's sense of well-being and supports all aspects of children's development. The outdoors offers really positive opportunities for doing things in different ways and on different scales than when indoors. It gives children first-hand contact with weather, seasons and the natural world. Outdoor environments offer children freedom to explore, use their senses, and be physically active and exuberant. It is proven that childrens self esteem is heightened when they are outside, in comfortable natural areas with the freedom to explore. Can you help us take the cieling off of their learning? Let them reach the sky!
In nursery, we believe that your childen should have access to a wide range of veratile equipment in which to explore and create. My outdoor vision is for children to use readily accesible equipment in ways which build and extend their imagination and creativity, in turn giving them unique opportunites for critical thinking and problem solving. For e.g. using crates and pallettes to build a pirate ship, working together to build a den with materials and large scale pegs, and building amazing structures.
With this in mind we are asking parents at North Walkden if they have access to any of the following materials which they could donate to our early years environment:
Wood & plastic crates
Pipes, tubes and guttering
Buckets
Wheelbarrows
Bamboo
Large and small cable reels
Planks of wood - all sizes
Plant pots
Natural materials: e.g. hessian fabric, soil, pine cones
Sheets, material and pegs
Ribbons
Please take a look at the images attached to give you an idea on how we can use the items listed #Vision
Please see Miss Kelbie in Nursery if you can help!
Thank you
