E-Safety
At North Walkden we aim to keep everyone safe whilst at the same time enjoying the internet. The schools Online Safety & Mobile Technology policy is available in the policy section of the website which details how we manage e-safety in school but you will also find lots of information here on how to keep your children safe on-line outside of school.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MINIMUM AGE TO USE TIK TOK, SNAPCHAT, FACEBOOK, TWITTER AND INSTAGRAM IS 13, WHATSAPP IS 16.
Please take a look at the document below which lists 'apps' that are know to our Local Authority Safe Guarding Officers and can be a concern when used by children under the recommended age. We urge parents and carers to review and monitor what your child is accessing.
School strongly recommends that these apps are not used until the legal age is reached.
Here are some great sites to make sure everyone has a safe time on the internet.

The BBC reports that TikTok, a social video app that allows users to share short videos, is introducing a family safety mode designed to give parents tighter control over how their children use the app. The safety feature will allow parents and carers to link their account to their child's and have direct control over the safety settings.

It has been brought to our attention that some children are downloading a secrecy App for photographs and videos, called 'HiCalculator'. The App appears and operates on a mobile device as a calculator, however, once a password has been entered the children can store photographs or videos on the App as well as share them with others. This allows children to keep photographs and videos a secret.
The App does not contain an age restriction and therefore can be accessed by anyone. Parents please be aware, check and monitor your child's activities online, particularly if they are using an App specifically designed to hide items from view.
14th June 2016 - IMPORTANT UPDATE - Please click on the links below for information regarding a chat site called Omegle.com or Omegle States (USA) which Greater Manchester Police have advised us of issues regarding children accessing the site.
