Healthy School Scheme

North Walkden supports the Salford and Trafford Healthy School Scheme. The scheme is a partnership between the health and education services, and provides a framework to help the school promote health in a holistic way. It is concerned with the health of the whole community: pupils, staff, parents and governors.

Children under the age of 5 receive free milk. After the age of 5, milk must be paid for. You will be sent a letter from school every term asking if your child requires school milk and the amount needed. If your child is entitled to free school meals then they are entitled to free milk.

North Walkden Primary School has joined the Healthy Eating Scheme run as an initiative by the Government. All children in the Nursery and Infants will receive a free piece of fruit every day in school.
